About Us

The Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes and Drums was founded in 2007 as a nonprofit organization to fulfill the need for an active firefighter band in the Boston area.  We are composed primarily of active and retired first responders from various departments around the Boston area. Our mission is to honor past and present first responders and members of the armed forces by performing at funerals, fundraisers and other civic and charitable events. We aim to help preserve the rich traditions and honor the legacy of the firefighting profession as well as our Scottish and Irish heritage. 

Firefighter pipe and drum bands have played a critical role in the fire service by honoring the tradition and sacrifice of firefighters. They serve as a moving tribute during ceremonies, memorials and funerals, paying respect to fallen heroes and providing solace to their families and colleagues. The stirring sounds of bagpipes and drums capture the solemnity and bravery of firefighters, creating a powerful and emotional atmosphere. Additionally, these bands symbolize unity, strength, and camaraderie within the fire service community, fostering a sense of pride and honor among its members. Through their music and presence, bagpipe and drum bands embody the values of courage, service, and remembrance that define the firefighting profession.
